Gobble Gobble! Thanksgiving Bento

I wanted to do a Thanksgiving bento but since I don’t have much time in the morning, I did a quick turkey that didn’t come out as nice as I wanted.  It’s just a peanut butter on whole wheat sandwich cut into a circle.  I used candy eyes, cheese for the beak, and cut an apple skin for the hangy thingy…I don’t know what you call it, LOL!  My mom has these fabric leaves thats she puts on the table for Thanksgiving, so I took some of those and put them under the sandwich for color.  Added for snacks are grapes, checkered-cut apple, grape tomatoes, and almonds.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

My first official run!

My dad has been training and competing in triathalons, Iron Man competetions, and organized runs for the past few years now.  He sometimes takes me training with him and I work out alongside him.  My mom has recently taken up running too, and we go running together.

My mom and I decided to enter our first organized run that took place on October 30th.  It was a local run that has been held for over 20 years called, Bill’s Beer Run.  I wasn’t old enough to drink the beer (and wouldn’t want to anyway…YUCK!) but I was old enough to run the race.  It was a 5-mile run (both my mom and me thought it was a 5k when we signed up LOL), so it was a long one for our first run.  We took our time and paced ourselves, but we completed the run and that was our main goal! I even placed first in my age group!

So now I have the itch for running and am already signed up for a local 5K (this should be a piece of cake).

Happy Halloween Bento

My little brother was having his Halloween Party today at his Mom’s Morning Out class (he calls it school) so I decided to make him a fun bento lunch to bring with him.

I made him a Jack-O-Lantern sandwich using a cookie cutter and then cutting the sandwich crust for the face.  There is a bat made from cheese, a mandarin orange to look like a pumpkin, strawberry slices, apple slices, and cheesy whales with ghosts made from cheese.

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween is coming bento!

My mom, my little brother and me went shopping the other day for Halloween costumes and decorations and we bought some new cutters so I decided to get in the spirit of Halloween and make a bento lunch.  Using the pumpkin and skull cutters, I cut my Nutella sandwich in the shapes and added carrot cut outs onto the pumpkin.  For snacks I had grapes, apple slices, and cheesy whales.

After School snack

Since I haven’t had much time to put into making bento lunches, I decided to post a pic of an afternoon snack I made after school yesterday – it’s not bento but it was good and healthy.

It’s just a rice cake with peanut butter and banana smushed on to it and slices of apples.

Happy Birthday Bento to my little brother!

My little brother’s 4th birthday was on Tuesday and I made him a lunch to celebrate.  He had a birthday cake made from 2 layers of a peanut butter sandwich cut into squares, topped with a 4 made from cheese, and pretzel candles.  I just added sliced strawberries and cheesy whale crackers since he was having cupcakes that day too.

And here’s a Batman cake me and my mom made for him:

Accessorize it! bento

So today I wanted to make a lunch designed after some of my jewelry so I made a hand with a bracelet and ring.  The hand is a sandwich made with peanut butter & jelly on a whole wheat sandwich thin.  The ring is cheese cut into a flower with a strawberry circle in the middle.  The bracelet is made from strawberries cut into circles.  I also cut Fruitabu strips to make fingernails.  Added for snacks are grape tomatoes, tulip cut strawberries, orange slices and heart-shaped brocolli crisps.

Here is my ring that I inspired this lunch:
